A private space to explore what keeps repeating, and what might help it change.
You may already understand quite a lot about yourself. Perhaps you’ve been in therapy, read widely, or spent time noticing the patterns that keep coming up.
Sometimes understanding a pattern isn’t enough to change your relationship with it.
In a one-to-one Shadow Work session, we have the time and privacy to explore what is happening beneath the surface. Rather than only talking about an experience, we can work with the different parts of you involved - through conversation, the body, movement and imagination.
The session follows what is actually present for you on the day. There is no set script and nothing you need to arrive having figured out.
Transform with guidance Move beyond knowing
One-to-one work gives us room to stay with what matters to you, without having to follow a programme or keep pace with anyone else.
That might mean slowing something down and paying attention to what you notice in your body. It might mean exploring a relationship, an old pattern or a part of yourself you find difficult to understand. At other times, something unexpected becomes the focus once we begin.
There is no curriculum to complete. We start with you, and work from there.

Do the inner work Real shifts happen
Each session runs 3 - 5 hours. That gives us enough time to settle in, understand what is happening for you, and stay with something without having to rush. You'll have time to arrive, settle, work, and integrate.
We start where you are. Not where you "should" be, not where you were last session. Where you are - what's demanding attention, what's been surfacing, what needs space.
I had the space to talk freely and give voice to the monologues that have been going on in my head, unpicking the various parts – it was very helpful to see how they related to each other. I got a lot of clarity that had been missing.

TAt times the work can feel intense, but intensity is never the aim. We stay with what feels useful and manageable for you.
Reclaim your voice Speak your truth
No two people bring the same material, but certain themes show up often in one-to-one Shadow Work coaching:
The pressure to prove yourself, fear of getting things wrong, or difficulty resting without feeling guilty. We can explore where those standards came from and what happens when you don’t meet them.
Saying yes when you mean no, taking responsibility for other people’s feelings, or finding it hard to hold a boundary once someone pushes back. These individual sessions help you locate where you end and others begin - and give your nervous system practice holding your ground.
That voice that tells you you're not enough, the stories about being fundamentally flawed, the way you speak to yourself that you'd never tolerate from anyone else. We meet these parts directly, with curiosity instead of more judgment.
Anger you’ve learnt to swallow, resentment that builds quietly, or a habit of making yourself smaller to avoid conflict. This work helps you reclaim the energy you've been using to hold everything down.
The ways you learned to relate (or not relate) based on who was available to you growing up. How you pursue or withdraw, what triggers your system into panic, what you need to feel secure.
Whatever you bring, we go slowly, pay attention to what is happening in the moment, and let the work unfold from there. My role is to help you find your way through what's coming up for you.
Go deeper Explore what matters
One-to-one Shadow Work can be a good fit if you feel there is something you understand intellectually but haven’t yet been able to shift.
You might recognise yourself here if you:
Shadow Work can be emotionally demanding, so a willingness to be curious about what comes up is important. We work at a pace that feels manageable, and you remain in charge of what you choose to explore.
"Historically I have struggled to feel safe around people, especially in the therapeutic realm. I felt Ruby created a non-judgmental space – she was very much with me where I was and didn’t push me into anything when I wasn’t ready.

Pierce the veil See what is true
Many people arrive at their first one-to-one Shadow Work session feeling a mix of relief and nervousness. That's completely normal. Here's what actually happens:
You’ll complete a short intake questionnaire so I have some background on what has brought you here, what you’ve tried before and anything you particularly want me to know.
We’ll begin by talking about what is happening in your life and what feels most important. As we talk, I’ll also pay attention to things such as changes in your voice, pace, posture or physical sensations.
From there, we’ll see what comes up and take our time with it. We don’t force a particular direction or outcome. It’s not uncommon for anger or grief to surface, and there’s space for whatever you’re feeling.
You may feel tired or need some quiet afterwards, so it is worth keeping the rest of the day fairly gentle if you can. We’ll also have a follow-up conversation to talk through anything that continues to unfold.
"The darker parts of me will only step into the light when it's safe. Ruby was attentive, focused and nurturing – she worked a magic I never thought possible.
After the session I felt joyous, curious, more in touch with my inner child, and a deep sense of contentment.

See yourself reflected In their stories
People often wonder about the same things before starting Shadow Work Coaching one-to-one. Here are the questions that come up most:
Therapy and Shadow Work can overlap, but the format is different. In these sessions we don’t only talk about a pattern; we may also explore it through the body, movement, imagery and different parts of yourself. Shadow Work coaching is not a replacement for psychotherapy or medical care.
We don’t push through overwhelm. If something feels too much, we slow down, pause, ground and decide together what feels manageable. You remain in control of what you choose to explore.
Not at all. Most people arrive knowing something feels stuck or off, but they can't name exactly what. The work itself reveals what needs attention. We can work out together where it makes sense to begin.
If you're asking that question, you probably are. Readiness isn't about being "healed enough" or having it all figured out. It's about being willing to feel your way through whatever comes up, even when it's uncomfortable.
Absolutely. Many clients work with both a therapist and a Shadow Work coach. They complement each other well - therapy for ongoing support and processing, coaching for more focused, experiential work on a particular pattern or issue.
